A few golden rules:

- Move fast! - The sooner you tackle a spill, the better your chance of avoiding a stain
- Always use a clean, white cloth, kitchen roll or tissue
- Do not rub too vigorously
- Always work from the outside towards the inside to avoid spreading the stain
- Brush up the pile to help the carpet retain it’s appearance as it dries out
- If in any doubt about treatment, consult a professional carpet cleaner.

Regular vacuuming

Vacuum your carpet on a regular basis as this will reduce dust and dirt, prolonging the life of your carpet.
Heavy traffic areas should be vacuumed daily.

For cut pile carpets, we recommend the use of an upright cleaner with an active beater bar, as this will help loosen and lift soiling from the pile.

For loop pile carpets, we recommend the use of a suction vacuum cleaner with no beater bar. The use of vacuum cleaners with a beater bar on a loop pile carpet may cause the carpets to “pill” or fuzz.

Fluffing & Shedding

All new wool carpets do have a certain amount of fluff consisting of short lengths of fibre, which may be shed from the carpet and that do not reach the base of the carpet itself. These slight fragments of fibre tend to come out of the carpet pile with general use. Fibre shedding is a normal characteristic of a wool carpet and as long as sufficient maintenance is carried out, i.e regular vacuuming, this will diminish over time. If you do have to deal with any snags or pulls, never try to pull out the fibre. Simply snip them off with a pair of scissors.

Routine Clean

From time to time, your carpet will benefit from a thorough deep clean. There are a number of effective shampoos and powders available, but please make sure it is appropriate for your carpet. If you are unsure about tackling the stain yourself, we highly recommend you contact a professional cleaning company to carry out the work. When having your carpet professionally cleaned, also use a reputable company and check references fully.

Dirt and grit are your carpets worse enemy. By using doormats you are protecting your carpet at every entrance.
